Advice

So I had to get a few repairs done at mini this week and have to replace my Vanos unit which I'm going to do in 2 weeks once I can afford it, my question is this I have a buddy that works at an car shop who is quitting this weekend but can do work for me for free up until then. I want to delete my second cat and res in my car but want to know if it's bad to do it before I get the vanos replaced cause I rather not have to pay for it but don't want to mess my car up. Any advice ?

Yes as soon as I can afford it I am going to get that fixed this was a list of what was wrong
Everything was repaired minus the vanos

The vehicle has multiple faults codes stored in the DME:

- 002F00 misfires in cylinder #2
- 002EFE misfires in multiple cylinders
- 002D54 Variable camshaft timing control (VANOS), exhaust, cold start not controllable

The repairs needed to correct these issues would be as follows;

- Spark plugs and ignition coils for the misfires (spark plugs are fouled and the coils are internally failed)
- Both VANOS units (intake & exhaust) with the solenoids
- The timing chain is stretched to 71.3 mm minimum spec from MINI is 68 mm
