R60 Service intervals?
Service intervals?
G'morning Countryman peoples!
I change my oil every 3k instead of the 9k suggested by my car's computer. Is there any way to reset the computers service intervals as it says I am over my suggested service mileage every time I start the car. Im at 12k miles and it says I am -3000 past my recommended service mileage. No biggie but kind of annoying. Thank you.

I change mine every 3000 miles probably more for the peace of mind than anything else. Im sure 5k would be fine but I drive hard and want to maintain my Countryman. In my first R60 I went the suggested 9000 miles and the car is noticeably slower and far more sluggish.
These new synthetic oils are proven to go the distance. I "typically" replace the oil in all my vehicles every 10K miles. It's an easy number to remember. Besides, when was the last time any modern vehicle using a high quality synthetic oil had an engine failure? Most of the time we trade them in before that occurs or get rid of them for other reasons (such as a transmission problem).
My son's Tahoe has over 240K miles and doesn't consume oil. My ML500 has 140K miles and the engine is running very strong. With the Mini I may consider replacing the oil every 7.5K miles but it may be overkill....
