Also recovered a bullet in the drivers side seat - 3 holes... not sure if the guy survived.

I actually shampooed the carpets when I first bought the car and thought someone must have spilled a venti coffee from starbucks in the rear seat. I don't think it was coffee...

But as I was replacing the speaker, I reached into the cavity to see if there was anything else, and there was some sticky residue. I determined that it was the foam the factory installed, and it had a faint smell of gasoline. I believe when the past owners filled the gas tank to the point where it slightly overflowed and automatically shut off the gas pump - that some gas will actually leak into the cavity and turn the foam into "goo". I never allow the gas pump to flow anymore. Has anyone else experienced any gas leaking? (you may not notice it, but it can't be good for you breathing this stuff in...)

I also considered that maybe the bullet nicked the gas line, but the entire bullet was contained on the frame of the speaker. Plus, I would think that the engine would run rough if the gas cap didn't have a good seal.

Here is a picture of the front roof without the headliner. If you zoom in, you can see the rubber pieces for the sunroof drains. I put some zip ties to clamp it on using a HVAC clamp. There are also two more drain connections in the back. I also used a long length of weed whacker cord to run down the metal tubes and rinsed it out with water. I have heard of some people using compressed air, but I would not use it for periodic cleaning as you can blow the rubber tubes off the metal pipe. Also verified that the water was dripping to the outside.

And here, is my new headliner that I put in. I bought the fabric for 15 bucks at Wal Mart. I initially used an entire can of 3M headliner spray with unsatisfactory results. Bought a can of weldwood contact cement and that worked much better. The 3M spray wouldn't hold it in many spots, so I had to peel it back and brush on the weldwood contact cement which worked awesome. Overall, it was a pain to do...

Need to pull my headliner down and redo it, but instead of more fabric I'm gonna cover it in fiber glass then paint it Matt black, won't ever have to worry about it dropping again that way.

Worst I've ever seen was a car bought at auction that still had blood, skin fragments and the interior shot to hell come into a place I worked at in high school for new tires.

It's always those crazy situations that make the job worth it.

From: In the here and now, for now.
There's an employee's old banger in the supermarket parking lot with about a dozen glancing blow bullet wounds on the off side rear door and panel.
I found a spent .45 round on my indie's parking lot once. You never go into a neighborhood like that feeling same ever again.

I'd say 4 hours the first day then 2 more the next. Had to go get some weldwood contact cement and re-apply. The 3M spray didn't hold well - would not use that again. Also, my old headliner was severely sagging. It was very easy to scrape the old glue/foam off.

Much easier when you have 2 people, one holding the fabric while you place the fabric in contact with the shell.
