05MCS/No armrest:No problem

I "almost" waited for the Jan 05 MCS--to get the arm rest. My last 3-4 cars have had them and thought I would be lost without one. Although I only have 1300 miles+ I haven't missed the arm rest. Seems like I am always shifting--with a smile on my face--and that an armrest would get in the way. Thanks for letting me share. Nick

Honestly, I haven't missed the center armrest in my MINIs. I have had nice center/armrest consoles in other cars, but not in the MINI. To me the MINI is a car that demands to be driven and hence requires your full alterness at all times. To me armrests go against the driving philosophy of MINI, but then again, there is nothing wrong with themselves.

I figure that the less places I have available to put and store junk in the interior the better.

I end up removing large armrests in my cars so not needed.

The only large extended armrest I like is in a AT car.

With AT vehicle my right arm has nothing to do so either have to find somethiing to park it, or ab;putate it. Fortunate that vehicle has a center armrest.

In the Mini I don't need the armrest as the manual tranny is so much fun and the shift **** is so tactile.

When I'm highway cruisin' I let my right hand slip down between the passenger's seat and the center hump. Very comfortable.

Godspeed.

And if you replace the ebrake boot with a nice soft leather one,. . .it's almost like a bumpy armrest.

Get the adjustable leather armrest (with storage) from either Mini Mania or Moss Motors. $159 or less if you can still catch Moss' Sale price.
