seperated Header before the o2 sensor

i have a 2004 mini cooper s mc-40 with a header that cracked open before the o2 sensor on the engine side, and am wondering if i should weld it or buy a new header. i bought the car used used. the previous owner put a cheap no name brand header on with an Invidia n1 exhaust with the titanium tips. what i don't know, is how do i know if the headers are long or short. I'm mechanically inclined but am new to headers. seems fairly easy to replace IF I HAD TO. if i do, any ideas on a reliable performance header that wont make me cry financially but is still reliable? any info will be helpful thanks.

If you have a good exh guy/welder you can weld it back together, but you can't have ANY leak, not even a pin hole as that will cause a check engine light.
If it were in my shop I'd just replace the header, we use our Flashpoint header as it is very cost effective and fits perfect.
