R60 2012 S Countryman
2012 S Countryman
Ok!
I own the R56 and tired of sinking money into it..
I found a red 2012 Countryman All 4 S...It's Nice!
Any issues I need to be concerned with? Water Pump...oil feed line thermostat..etc,.Valve cover issues..R56 had all those and more problems..
My R56 OMG!! What a headache..I love the mini and I like the All wheel Drive..
2012 CM All4 S Issues anyone?...It has 37,000 miles six speed..
I would appreciate it..any input..
Thanx

check the build date... they fixed the clutch issue towards the end of 2012 and were handling them on a case by case basis.. When I bought mine, I called the dealer and they verified via VIN all clutch components were replaced and new clutch friction material all under warranty.
I have a 2012 2wd r60s six speed. Bought it last year with 37,000 miles. No problems so far. I love it. Just did the manic x tune. Like it too. Didn't know about clutch. 808keith, Do I just ask my dealer if it's been replaced?

So it looks like from Nov 2012 build on, Countryman's got the new friction plate. Any issues with 2011-early 2012 and MINIUSA would handle on a case by case basis.. a lot of people have gotten theirs taken care of by the dealer under warranty..

Early ones had the issues, if the clutch was replaced by the dealer you can run the VIN at a local MINI dealer and the can tell you what's been done. 21208606067

they were all replaced under warranty with no issues. i believe my hpfp has been replaced as well.
water pumps are VERY common on these and most minis i think.
it hasn't been unreliable, and they always have made good on their warranty work. but i will note that it's the only vehicle that i've had towed out of my own garage, twice.
My 2011 has been towed to Mini 4 times. Twice for the defective thermostat control, once for a blown alternator & a leaking Oil control valve. The thermostats were under warranty, and the alternator/Oil Control valve were only covered because I purchased an extended warranty. I like my Countryman, but is, by far, the least dependable new car I have ever owned. It now has 62,000 miles on it, and I am cringing at the prospect of a clutch failure, and a fuel pump replacement.
Other than that, it's a great fun car to drive.

Our 2012 had a build date of 7/12. Bought it with 29k and the clutch failed 3 weeks later. Probably more the prior owner not knowing how to drive a standard. The thermostat was replaced at 30k under warranty and the dealer paid for a rental car for 9 wedks while they waited for the thermostat to come in.
I just bought my 2012 CM this past Monday. It's build date is 09/11. I will be calling the Mini dealer tomorrow to verify what has been done although none of the work was done at that specific dealer. I can also call some of the dealers listed on the CarFax where maintenance was performed.
What is interesting I read about all of these repairs as I have in the past with my R53 and R56 but I have been very fortunate I guess not have gone through all of those problems. The owner before me owned this car for 17 months and drove it 35,674 miles on all kinds of roads, weather in the Midwest without any issues at all. That was roughly 1,800 miles per month while she worked in Home Health Care.
I was expecting to hear some kind of worn noise when I checked the engine or at least find something during the test drive but it sounds and runs like a brand new car.
I guess after I call a few dealerships I will have a better idea of the maintenance history. I called the dealers on the CarFax for my Z4 and was sent detailed info that was far and above what was reported on the CarFax. I know that is the norm and a lot of maintenance or repairs are not listed.
I love the car though after 2-3 days of ownership. This forum is also a great place to find answers, suggestions, etc.

I haven't been on here in some time, but got on to start pretty much this exact post. By reading the comments I am second guessing whether to move forward. I came across a 2012 All4S 6 speed w/22k that I am considering. I drive alot, 2k-3k per month, so reliability is very important to me. Build date on this is 8/12. Do I stay away?

My wife drives about 100 miles round trip to work and back. I do most of my own maintenance and have no bif issues with any of the 3 Mini's she has owned.
While that may be true, it's already been proven that the clutch material was subpar and they acknowledged it.
what is he build date of your 2012? November All4 on had the newer friction plate.
