New mini owner. Supercharger pulley question.

What's up guys I went out about 2 weeks ago and bought a 2006 cooper S. I've done the Alta intake so far. Car is clean 62000 miles and a clean carfax with tons of maintenance.

I'm currently looking into buying a supercharger pulley. I'm seeing a few different brands and wanted to know which one is the better of them all. Looking at the 15% pulley.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Alta makes a good one, Way Motor Works also makes a good one. As far as the size, the general consensus is that if you are going to take your car to the race track...go with a 15% pulley. If you are just going to be driving on the street, go with a 17%.

I went with a 17%....couldn't be happier.

I've heard that also but then I hear about heat issues with the 17% + pulleys.

You only have heat issues if you are running high RPMS for long periods of time......like when you are driving on the track.

For a street car that only sees short bursts of pedal to the floor moments....the 17% pulley is the way to go. You will have more boost on the top end, and it will come it at a lower rpm. All things that are great on the street

Okay cool. I'll look into that pulley. Yeah I definitely wouldn't be full throttle for long lengths of time lol. When you went to the 17% was it a big difference over the stock one ?

My car is a JCW, so it came with a JCW pulley on it....I think its close to a 14 % pulley, I could feel a boost in power going up to the 17%, but someone with a stock pulley will notice a much bigger gain than I did. You will be going from around 10psi of boost, to around 17psi......that makes for a healthy boost in power and torque. .....a new pulley is THE best power building mod for the money.

When you do your pulley, you might want to go ahead and put a new belt on it....and put a set of the colder JCW spark plugs in the motor (NGK BKR7EQUP)
