Anyone Seen the new "Cool Blue" color in person?
Hello! I'm thinking about ordering my dream Mini. Believe it or not, it's a decision between a new Chevy Colorado 4 door crew cab and a new Mini. :-) I've built my Mini online and (as you can see) already named it and everything. Let's just say I'm very excited...and I've never even driven one. I love the new "Cool Blue" color on the Internet, but I was wondering how close this color is to the actual color you see in person. Anyone have pictures or comments? Thanks!!
I drove test a new '05 Cooper S Convertible in Cool Blue.... Very beautiful and stunning looking car. I prefer Cool Blue to Hot Orange. The demo had the cool blue dash interior trim. Very classy looking and easy on the eyes.
However, you have to see it in person to come to your own conclusions.
Let's just say that after test driving the MINI, you will never look back to the Chevy Colorado.

I placed my order for a MCSC in Cool Blue in August.
I drove one a couple of weeks ago as a dealer demo and liked it. In the sun it seems to shift a bit...it's very nice. I've since seen it on a cloudy day and it looks very dull.
Since the test drive I've seen similar blue on everything from Saturn and Ford to Toyota, Hundai and Kia. I know it's not as pearlescent on those but driving by it's about the same color. I had to do a bunch of soul searching.
In another thread somebody said that blue was going to be the flavor of the month this year. I took that as a lot of MINI's would be ordered in the various Blue's ( I still love EB). What I'm seeing is that Blue is the flavor of 2005 for everybody.
I changed my spec to Liquid Yellow...which I admit was tugging at me from the start.
YMMV - - and it damn sure will if you buy the Chevy

I saw that color a week ago. It is a very very nice color on the car. My wife and I also agreed it is a feminine looking color. That is just my opinion, but it is still a nice color. I'd say one of the classier looking colors. Although our replacement is the purple haze. I must say I really like like that color on the MINI also. We woulda gotten another indi blue, but the circumstances don't allow that anymore. The MA I was talking to said they are having problems with that color, that is why they dropped it.
Saw a cool blue convertible at Roadshow last week. I liked it a lot.......but, I think a MINI needs to be a bright, cheerful color like electric blue, chili red or liquid yellow. My MC is chili red but if I was doing it over I'd get liquid yellow.
Just my opinion of course but the duller the color the less I like it. Save classy for a Lincoln Towncar, I want my MINI to be an in-your-face color!!!

Thank you all!
Wow...thanks for all your responses! I've made up my mind that this is the car I want. I'm ordering "MiniElla" tomorrow...she should arrive in December. My three year old prefers the yellow color....but I convinced her of the Cool Blue when I told her that it looked like Cinderella's dress....hence our new mini's name "MiniElla". :-) Thanks again for all your replies! I can't wait to get my car!

Whatever the color, you'll love the car.

I saw Cool Blue in person a few weeks ago and I thought it looked more lavender than blue. I thought it was an attractive color, but not one I would want for me.
Here's a picture:

Saw one today at the dealership - it's very nice with the white top. Don't think it would look good with black. IMHO
However, I love the liquid yellow, love it, love it, love it:smile:

Your 3 year old has great taste. My 5 year old loves the BRG

BTW, I was out at lunchtime today and saw a light blue Z3 going by... I think it's probably the same color as Cool Blue. It had a tinge of lavender to it.
