I'm baaaack....... This time with a Mini
Well, I drove home today from Connecticut with my new Mini to Virginia. Only saw one Mini on the trip. a BRG with black stripes near Manassas! Saw tons of Hummers though.
I'm working on a full review but since people asked me for pictures, I'm testing my ability to upload them now. Seems Purple with red/BLACK interior scares some people.....
Anyway two quick notes: On my car with Anthracite headliner and trim, EVERYTHING is Anthracite, including the downtubes and the mounting plate for the cupholder, as well as the A pillars. I assume that there are different part number for different color cupholders! Also I must admit that the color match between the plastic and the fabric is superior. Matching color in two different materials is really difficult, but they sure hit it spot on. You literally have to feel the headliner fabric to convince yourself that it is not all one plastic overlay.
Well lets see if this works. Also note how the Purple Haze is difficult to photograph accurately - I've shown it next to a 2005 blue MC for comparison.
PS - these pictures are at the limit of resilution that the board will allow. After clicking on the thumbnail and downloading the picture, hold the cursor on the picture and a small icon will appear on the lower right. Click on that to expand the picture to full size - this will get rid of the aliasing that distorts edges.

Beautiful car Joe!
I wasn't completely sold on PH from seeing pictures, but when I saw one in person I was blown away. The red n black with anthracite looks cool too. Did your dealer ask you to put down an extra deposit for choosing red? Mine did on my PW/B. I guess they thought I wouldn't like it.
Anyway, congrats!

I put $1000 down on the car when I ordered it. I don't know if this is extra or not. I just said "How about $1000 down?" and he said "Fine." In actuality, when I am sitting in the car I can't see the hood unless I scootch up and peer over the steering wheel. I really can't see any of the outside color except through the side view mirrors, and there I really only see a reflection of the outside, since the paint is so shiny.
By the way, I was showing my wife the car tonight, and wanted her to see the washers for the Xenons. I've seen lots of things in my day, and really just expected little nozzles below the lights, like a Mercedes, or my Land Rover. When those foot-long arms came out of the car and sprayed back on the lights I nearly jumped out of my socks. That has to be the wierdest thing I have seen a car do in my life. If any of you have Xenons on a 2005 and have never been in front when you turn the washers on, I suggest you do it - have a friend turn them on and stand back! You have to have the wipers and lights on at the same time and spray the windshield twice. Amazing.

Yeah, my deposit was $1000...until I added the red. Then it was $1500. I was a little stunned at the time. Now, I just enjoy telling the story any time I see one with red, or when someone says, "Oooh, I love the red interior."
I don't have the washers but I have seen them in action. Very wierd, but in a cool sci-fi kinda way.

Congrats on your delivery! I like the Purple Haze more every time I see it.
FYI: the Xenon washers haven't changed. Also, there is no blue color for the Cooper for '05. You must've been parked next to an '03 or '04 Indi Blue Cooper.

I went to the dealer this weekend to look at convertibles. It is very difficult to tell the difference from Indi Blue to Hyper blue to Purple haze in pictures. The colors need to be experienced in person.
I wish they had offered that red interior back in 03. I like it. As far as with purple, I would want to see it in person. One thing for sure, it is unlikely you will ever see another MINI like yours.

Congrats on the new ride!! I loved your section on the headlamp washers..
First time I saw them in action, I laughed so hard - I love those things....
Chow!

My' 04 MCS is exactly the same way. I ordered with Anthracite interior trim and H/K, hence I got the metallic speaker grilles.
I'll publish some more photos with the review I am working on. It seems that the red interior is rarer than I thought. I figured everyone who bought Chili Red would want it, but guess I was wrong. I'll be pytting my red Schroth drivers harness on this weekend. I'll photograph it all afterwards.
Don't know why everyone complains about the turn signal indicator on the dash. I got two.....left and right.

Oh Joe, you gon' dunnit now...
I was very happy with my humble little Mini until I saw the interior of your new purple people eater...
I'd probably be salivating over (not on... never on) the exterior too, except that the colors don't show that well on my screen!
It may be time to head on down to the dealer and test drive a ... new... S....
So what all's on the center display where the speedo should be?

Congrats, Joe! I agree with the suggestion to install a clear bra. That is the one thing I regret not doing for my Wanda.
She's got the road scars to show it, too!
 Look forward to seeing more of your pix, including the new harnesses!
Happy, happy motoring!
