R56 Base Cooper doesn't think I filled up the tank

I'm not sure if it's an issue with the floater or what but after I filled up the gas the gauge still thinks the car is empty. The distance to empty keeps shrinking. Not sure what triggered this, if it's the floater or what but the pump fills up and stops accurately.

It sounds like a failing sending unit. The link provided shows you how to get to the sending unit and replacing it. Hope this helps

To be clarify - I think the floater was just stuck in the tank somewhere.

However, since then, I'm getting a recurring P0463 code, fuel level sensor circuit code?
