R50/53 Will R83 rims fit over JCW brakes?

Will R83 rims fit over JCW brakes?
I've been searching for a definitive answer without luck so any help would be appreciated...
I upgraded my MINI and the new one has JCW brakes (aka R56 MCS brakes). My snow tires are mounted on 16" R83 (5-Star) rims. I checked and there is no interference when bolting them up but the gaps are small. Can I run these rims with my JCW brakes? I know MINI says "nope" (possibly because of cooling?) but was hoping someone here has personal experience.

I believe so but its super tight and you have to watch the wheel weights and get ultra flat stick ons. Bets is to test fit.
