Will Mini owners come together again in 2017, to cross the Mackinac Bridge and set the New World Record?

From what I have read, we were only 131 MINIs short of beating London's record of 1450 in 2009. Let's come together in 2017 and beat this!

I am a first time MINI owner, but definitely would like to be part of this event! I haven't seen anything "official" yet, but internet searches point towards August 5, 2017; therefore, I have already requested this weekend off at work.

If anyone knows anything official, for this event, please let us all know!

 

I participated in 2015 and 2013 and had a blast. Lots to see and do in that part of Michigan, so well worth the trip!

 

If they do it on the5th they are going to miss any minis that will be going to MITM that same weekend.
I'd like to participate but If I had to choose, I'll go to CO. MITM is my favorite event.

 

I received a notice that it will be August 5, 2017.

 

MITM isn't until the following weekend, from what I have read. It goes from the 9th thru the 13th of August 2017.

The Mini on the Mack - World Setting Event is August 5th, then all could head to Steamboat, CO.

 

Where do all these people stay? It's not that big of a place.

 

There are lots of hotels in Mackinaw City (south of the Mackinac Bridge) and in St. Ignace (north of the Bridge). Mackinac Island also has lots of places to stay (no cars and accessed via ferries). Very tourist-oriented, so plenty of places to stay.

 

So August 5th for sure then?

 

According to MINI On The Mack FB page (caps seem to matter). Mini of Grand Rapids has organized it in the past...I'll check with them when I get a chance.

 

Sounds good. I've never made it further North than Muskegon, family in Grand Haven.

Where you staying?

 

I've stayed at the Best Western Plus Harbour Pointe Lakefront in St. Ignace several times over the years (even non-mini related stuff). Nice place, on the water, good parking for your mini, and within walking distance of the festivities they've had at the last two attempts...I'll probably do what I did last year and drive up the morning of the event and drive home afterwards.

 

My wife and I made reservations through the Mackinaw City Chamber and are staying at the Ramada Waterfront... It is our first year participating, and our first MINI.

 

Looks good. Just booked Friday and Saturday night.

They even have a campfire on the beach every night. I should get a free night for raving so much about the place!

That's a great event, hopefully they will set it this year. The drive up there is very nice. Can't believe how hilly upper Michigan is.

 

First time MINI owner with my 2017 Mini Cooper S Clubman ALL4 and we have already registered. Interesting fact though:

"WHEN DID THE NEW MINI COOPER MAKE ITS USA DEBUT? -- It first became available in the US March 22, 2002."

This would be a great event for MINIUSA http://www.miniusa.com to get involved in, and for this to be the year to set the world record in the USA, for MINI's 15th Anniversary!!!
