gauging interest fender flares

hey everyone im presenting a business proposal to a huge company out here in colorado thats interested in financing a composite company for car parts and the resources to build them. our first project will be fiberglas and carbon fiber fender flares and maybe a full widebody kit with the same quality as the liberty walk kit for half the price. im just trying to gauge interest in this. mainly the wide fender flares because thats what we are currently designing so im just trying to see who would be a potential buyer or maybe a group buy. pics will be posted soon and any feedback is welcome.

Not real interested in wide body flares, but how about normal looking flares that would reduce the wheel gap and let us keep our cars at or near the stock height?

Sorry, I think I know what you want but further explanation would be helpful. Are you wanting the stock fender plastics just made in fiberglass or carbon fiber ?

I'll be interested in anything that will help me create an R5 Turbo clone.

No, sorry I wasn't clear. Just looking for stock appearing fender flares that would decrease the distance between the tires and the fender flares...in other words, fender flares that are a little "taller" versus "wider" to eliminate the SUV look that MINI's come with from the factory....lots of us need to keep the standard ride height due to bad roads, but want a better appearance....

I would be interested in a set only if they used the OEM mounting points and don't need to be screwed in to the sheet metal. How are you designing them to be mounted?

There is plenty of interest out there I can assure you of that. Given the amount of people that jumped on the disgusting "Aesthetic" flares, you'd have no trouble filling orders to the point of back-order with a set that looked nice.

And could be painted body color instead of black.

If you've ever seen them painted body color you'd love it. It rarely happens because I think it costs like $2000 to do it.

I do apologize that's not really the direction we are wanting to head with the company. We see ourselves giving liberty walk and rocket bunny a run for their money one day.

Our company has connections to make these very cost friendly. Of course made to order or mass production will make a difference in cost no matter what material is used.

If you could shoot me a pm maybe I can bounce some ideas off you and you can help steer this in the right direction. It's going to get done and it's going to get done right. The nice thing is it will benefit everyone.

That's something currently in the works. I just ordered a custom three piece forged wheel 17x9 in the front with 17x9.5 in the back with a not so friendly offset. Our goal would be to have them mount like the stock ones too but we also want our customers to not be afraid to run camber and whatever size wheels or tires they want. I'll keep you updated on that though.

Do you plan to have the front flares come all the way down to the side skirt or stop way short like Liberty Walk does?? My concern for a street car that is a DD is that you will be throwing rocks from your wide front tire right at the rear fender flare if you stop it short of the skirt and with them being made out of fiberglass it is going to eventually crack..For a mainly track car this isn't as much of a concern as the track is mostly rock free till someone has an offroad experience and they get tossed onto the track.. There is someone out of Australia who is making a full kit like this ( it looks great by the way and not priced bad ) and that is why I didn't buy it, for this rock throwing possibility and the fact that a replacement is on the other side of the world.

I believe we plan on having them stop short kind of like the LB Walk kit but not quite that short. Tomorrow is a big day for us because the 3D scanning will be taking place. The offset and size of wheels/tires will have a big impact on if and where rocks will be thrown. We're not going to be designing a kit out of a composite that is going to need to be replaced every 6 months/repainted.

I'd think that anyone wanting wider fender flares plans to use either wider or offset further out wheels or both to take advantage of being able to use a wider tire.. Yeah, be nice if it was made out of material kinda like the stock ones so they take alittle abuse and not just crack/chip if hit by a rock...Seems to be like ABS Plastic but Lexan would be good too...
