FS - '03 MCS JCW Red w/ White

$20,000 FIRM - I will deliver this car to you in the continental USA - I hold the title there are no leins on the car this will make for a quick easy clean sale.

I have sold the aftermarket rims pictured so you get the stock 17" mini lights with the run flats.

Call me @ 772-370-0605 if you are seriously interested. PM me if you need more info.

Business has slowed terribly for me, I have a really nice buffer to fall back on and am not worried about it at all. This is however impeding a financial milestone my wife and I had agreed to reach in the very near future.

I own my Mini outright and, in all honesty, it was a total emotional purchase. I test drove an S and the next thing I knew I had one on order.

I already have a "toy" to play with, its my RX-7 and I have so much invested in it I will nver get it back out. So it stays.

Unfortunatly the sound decision here is to sell my Mini.

The car has 10,400 miles on it.
It has been driven resonably hard but not abused.
It has been Autocrossed 4 times. (almost beat the ASP Vettes last time out w/ the V-700's on :D )

The car is bone stock and has not been modified in any way.

Options on the car:
- Regular A/C not the fancy shmancy kind
- No sunroof
- Checker board graphics on roof
- Trip computer thingy on the tach
- Space aged cloth interior
- Sport Package (Zenon headlights, DSC, Sport Seats etc..)
- I purposefully kept this car as simple as possible because I wanted it to be as sporty as possible. I was aware these cars were heavy before ordering mine and I wanted to keep the weight out. (The race car driver in me never dies)

I have had ZERO issues with this car and it has not been in for any warranty work. It was just in for its 10K service last week. (BTW- I changed the oil at 5K miles)

There is one minor door ding on the passanger door under the Mirror and I will be having it repaired next week as well.

There are no scratches or signs of wear anywhere on this car. I religously waxed it and kept it spotless. It has been garage kept since delivery. It looks like it did the day I took delivery of it.

I did a rough search to see what JCW's are selling for and really didnt get a real #. Dealership listings are not real. So I leave this up to you if your really intersted make me a fair offer.

You can PM me here - I will check back as often as my schedule allows.

Or E-mail me - Jims5543@nopistons.com

Or feel free to call me

772-370-0605 -- BTW - I am up for a little trip to your location (within reason) for you to see the car.

Also .. I am not leaving the Mini community as soon as things pan out I will be in the market for a Classic Mini -- You can thank Philthy for me strong desire to own one. I LOVED autocrossing his.

Some pics: More upon request.

I am about to broker this car. I am asking 25K for it. I will split the shipping cost 50/50 but suggest you fly into West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale or Miami, Florida and drive it home.

I initially was going to ask in the high 20's for this car but feel it will sell faster at 25K and I dont have to pay a broker.

Go check at Mini online and you'll see you cannot get a JCW new for this price and the only other JCW for sale online in the country was listed for 33K.

Any questions or if you want to see more pics or want to request a certain pic PM me here or call 772-370-0605.

I am selling this for less than people are selling non-JCW's and its a flawless car with 10K miles on it. :Baffled:

Welp, it will be offered at 25K for 2 more weeks then its off to a broker and will be listed for more. I will end this offer to fellow MINI owners the 2nd week of October.

Wow! $25k is CHEAP, IMO

MCS/JCW's without sunroofs are rare birds... I know... I've looked... actually finding a MINI of any type w/o the sunroof is tough...

Wish I could buy it... excpet for the color, this would be almost exactly how i would spec it.

Good luck!

One reason you may have a hard time selling it, is the price. You pretty much have a bone stock car with the JCW kit.

I configured your car with the exact same options for a 2005, and it came to $21,999. If you were to order the car at Classic Mini, the JCW kit would cost an additional $5750 including installation. This is a total of $27749. This is only about $2749 above your car, but if bought new, you would be getting a new car, with no mileage (and it hasn't been tracked), it is an '05 which has a large number of small enhancements and tighter tolerances, and it includes 10 more hp in the JCW kit. Add the fact that financing is cheaper with a new car purchased at the dealer than purchased used from a third party (that along can save almost $1000 off the price of the loan for 60 months). It starts becoming not so great of a deal. You do have some aftermarket parts (i.e. wheels), but that generally doesn't draw much extra in price, especially since people often change this already.

I don't think you are overcharging, but it is borderline. The '05 has so much other features, that most people would rather spend the extra couple of thousand and get the '05 with more power and better gear ratios.....

I do agree though that it is rare to see a JCW with no sunroof.

I guess I think different than others. I purposfully kept the car simple in the name of keeping it sporty. Sunroof is very heavy as is adding all the other options.

I did get the sport package with the cloth interior so I wouldnt exactly say its bone stock.

Look in this section here alone, I am seeing 2003 MCS's for sale in here for more than I am selling my JCW for. I paid nearly 30K for my JCW new. Yes it has been Autocrossed 4 times if that detracts from its value so be it. But I would be dammed to own such a car just to be a garage queen. I drove it as it was intended to be driven, spirited and its never given me a problem.

Mute point anyway.. I just listed it nationally for 27,500 and if it doesnt sell I just keep it. I am not going to give away a JCW its just not going to happen.

Its a sad day for JCW owners. No one seemed to care that I had spent 7K for this kit. All I got were people telling me the kit costs thousands less. :(

Oh well. You live and learn next time a pulley and a gamble that then engine doesnt blow.

I'm sorry to see that. Do you suppose it is because buyers didn't value the JCW kit or because otherwise the car was rather spartan?

One of the things I've heard people say is that a JCW car would bring more than an aftermarket modified car. Given your experience, I'd be curious to see if anyone is getting a premium for cars equipped with the JCW kit.

I would also think that the JCW kit will add value to the car instead of diminished value brought on by aftermarket mods.

face it. An used MCS with the JCW kit for $20K is an absolute giveaway but by no means reflects the TRUE market value of the car.

I personally would not have taken a $7K loss on it.

By now you should now that people will tell you ANYTHING to take away your car for cheap. When you buy a car brand new, like the MINI, you pay top dollar for it, take it or leave it.

But when you sell it, people in the used car market are looking out for bargains and they will tell you all sorts of fabrications to get you to give your car away for nothing.

You probably paid for your JCW kit $6K installed and the person that bought the car from you got a barely used MCS with a FREE JCW upgrade.

I am afraid that you did not do very well on this sale but if it floats your boat...

Actually, the JCW may have hampered the sale a bit, along with the admission of tracking the car and spiritedly driving it. I know you were trying to be up front about the condition, but some things might have been better unsaid. A lot of people probably didn't like the idea of spending anywhere close to new price for a car that might have been seriously abused. Anyone could see the physical condition, but no one, except maybe a person who knows you, would be able to attest to your driving habits. 10K provides a lot of wear and tear when you have a person marginally skilled with driving a manual tranny in the car. Not saying you don't know what you're doing. I'm just providing an outsiders point of view. I've known people I wouldn't buy a car from if they had it for any length of time for just that reason.

Sorry to hear you took such a bath on what looks to be a really nice car. Unless it was a life or death matter I don't think I would have let it go at that price.... but someone's sure glad you did!

Considering my real Autocross car is a 460HP 2500lb RX-7 with a racing clutch and 10" wide slicks that gets FTD's at almost every event it attends I will venture to say I am capable of driving a manual car well. I know you were nto accusing me of being a bad driver but I felt this needed to be cleared up for some weird internet reason to people I will never meet nor care what they think....... I need a beer.....

Every car I own is manual including my wifes A-6. I dont like automatic cars I like to drive my cars. The A-6 has 50K miles on it and has its original clutch and showns no sign of needing replacement. Its our family errand car too. Not bad for a 4000+lb car.

I was honest because in August I bought a 500RWHP internet site project RX-7 for $7500 and was led to believe it was in resonably good shape. I was super pissed when I got it and saw 90% of the mods to the car were some of the most amature work I had ever seen. It is amazing the car runs. The whole car needs to be reworked.

If you think a 3 Autocross events is abuse thats kind of sad. I drive my Mini and my RX-7 (yes its street legal) like they are sports cars, because, well, they are.

Anyone buying a used Mini that thinks it was pampered and never driven hard is kidding themselves. If you own a MCS your winding that thing out plain and simple. I dont get in that mini and redline it every chance I get but I also dont drive it like an old lady.

I could have sat around and tried to hold out for a bit more money unfortunatly some one posted above that you can buy a equally equipped 05 JCW for 27K. So what am I supposed to do? If that is the case then the people selling the regular MCS's for 23K are out of line and should be sellling in the upper teens. So I had a choice drop the price to a point where it would sell or hold out. since it seems the JCW kit has been overlooked as a worthy mod for a better price, I chalk this up to a learning experiance but my new office and go on with my life and my 2 RX-7's.

Cheers!

Sorry to have riled you a bit. All I was offering was a possible explanation as to why your car didn't sell for what it should have. Having been involved with the sales of sporty cars in the past I just based my post on past attitudes I've run into over the years.
