Rear brake noise, no sensor warning.

It's a 2013. I bought it from my mother and she obviously didn't hear the noise in the rear. The pads are worn, grind a bit when the brake is applied and also grind a small amount even when the brake isn't applied. I'm assuming something is frozen. Looks like an easy job but I'm wondering if the warranty should cover this. That is if the frozen caliper caused the brake wear. The mileage is roughly 12,000.

Anyone have an issue with this?

Need to pull the wheels and investigate as 12k miles is low for issues or worn pads.
