r61 Paceman issue/question
Forgive me for cross posting this but I am hoping that someone can answer this issue of my r61. I have owned my r61 for less than a month. Purchased with 28k on the odometer. I noticed within the first week that it would nearly stall when trying go up a driveway incline from a dead start. Long Story Short , I took it to the dealer and after going through 3 service managers, they replaced the entire clutch unit pressure plate, fly wheel, ect (Under Warranty). I got the car back This past Thursday (it took them about 5 days) and although it can make it up a hill hill now, it still seems to take some doing and real clutch skills to not stall the car. Also, its pretty much impossible to get the car to do a fast take off. The service managers all told me that the Pacemans are all like this and it's just a characteristic of the car. All I know is this car has nothing off the line & I'm not sure if its the clutch or something else. Can anyone shed some light on this.
Do you have the ALL4. If so, it will keep the CM/PM from quick starts as the second electronic clutch in the rear diff keeps it smooth.
As for the clutch, make sure when on the hill you do not ride the clutch when starting (meaning---make sure you release the pedal fully!). Do not move up a car length or two without fully releasing the clutch. If not, there is an auto adjusting mechanism in the OEM dual mass clutch (similar to old drum brakes) which will results in one side of the clutch wearing out early and the opposite side not even worn. (I went thru two clutches before I realized what I was doin--I live in very hilly area).

Thanks Tjank, yes I do have the All4. So this explains what I am seeing with the slow starts. The dealer did say that this was characteristic of all the All4s. I guess the previous owner made the same mistakes that you did which is what caused the clutch to wear. This sound like no matter how much power upgrading I do, the car will still be crap off the line.
Have you tried using the sport button all the time ?

No I don't use it all the the time since I don't want to become desensitised to it. I like flipping the switch and noticing the marked difference. Especially with my jb+ installed the car becomes a little monster.
Ok, well some people just press it all the time. Or they get a sprintbooster.
