Red Flag? 10+ Day "Oil Change" at VDC

Arrived at Charleston on September 3rd with an EDD of September 13 at Moritz in Texas. After quite the runaround at the dealers, I made a quick complaint to ASK-MINI. Dealer called promptly thereafter with the following (mis)information. Apparently my car, along with 3 others, have not been released because "they need to have their oil changed" and that the necessary oil should be arriving tomorrow afternoon.

I'm trying to be low key about this, but a 10+ day "oil change" seems highly suspect. Is this BMW-speak for something far more serious?

It might be. Attempt to get full disclosure as to what is causing the delay. If your vehicle was damaged in transit (an unfortunate but not uncommon occurence) you may have numerous options such as: 1) refusal to take delivery, 2) re-negotiate the selling price, 3) substitute another vehicle for a damaged one. Check with your dealer, MINIUSA, and if at all possible the VDC.

Hope its only an oil change around a holiday.

I did tell the dealer I thought the "oil change" was highly suspect, but he says he questioned his source at the VDC repeatedly and was given the same answer. Not accepting delivery would be a hard pill to swallow after a 3 month wait and may well be an overreaction to a delay. I'm definitely wary however of this "oil change" theory and will be documenting and following up. Does anyone know how to contact the VDC directly?

Thanks,
Mike

I remember reading somewhere that some of the original Minis were shipped with the wrong transmission fluid or something and it blew up a lot of the original CVT transmissions. Since then, Mini has been very sensitive about fluids. If they suspected that the wrong fluid had been put in an engine or transmission, it might take that long to completely drain, flush, clean, and replace the fluid. Even if it ws just suspected.
