I've got a 2011 non-S, Auto Countryman and love it. Yes it may be a bit 'under-powered' for those who want to 'drive it like they stole it' but it works for me. No issues other than regular maintenance to date although i believe the HPFP was replaced within the first 15,000 miles just before i bought it.
If you are in no hurry I'd HIGHLY suggest waiting a few weeks and checking out the new 2017 F60 Countryman when MINI does the internet release. As long as MINI gets their commitment sold in the next 6 months or so, you should be able to order one towards the end of this year with delivery early next year. From owning a Justa Cooper 4 door and driven a new Justa Clubman I can tell you they feel similar to the 02-06 S model's power wise and drive and ride Much better then previous generations IMO. I've owned 5 MINI's since 2004 and the new F series so far is my favorite. If you want to get one sooner then I'd suggest driving the new Clubman first then drive a current gen countryman again after. I enjoy my Paceman but when the new gen's came out, I SERIOUSLY felt like I overpaid vs the quality and feel of the new gen's. Just my opinion from someone who has motored in them all but check them out for yourself.
