Just as the title says, is there any way to add nav into the factory unit if you have MINI connected?

 

My understanding is that the car has either the smaller standard screen or the XL screen (both have MINI Connected). Nav is unavailable for the standard screen, and it comes included with the XL screen.

 

That seems to be true this year in North America, but you could get Nav with a 6.5" screen in previous years and it looks like you can still get it in other countries.

What equpiment it uses is the question.

 

True, they did have the nav available with the 6.5" for 2014 and 2015, but it used a different headunit, different controller and you needed it wired into the GPS antenna. Definitely not something you can add without replacing lots of hardware.

Buy a mount and use your phone or standalone GPS - they tend to work better anyway.

 

I'd assume it would take some hardware replacement and a whole new module for the sat nav plus a software update at a ridiculous labor rate, but it still might be my best option to get a mini I have my eye on just how I want it. The wife has also gotten used to the idrive in our other car so she feels that it it took her long enough to master that, lets make sure the MINI operates the same.
