New to List and North Carolina

Hi there! I'm a new mini owner (Wasabi is pictured below) and I'm new to this list and to the Carolinas. So I'm just new all over! Is this mini club of the carolina's something you join or is it just this list here? (Told you I was new heh heh). And anyone else in the Fayetteville Area?

xoxo Kimmie

Welcome! Moorlockx is also down in Fayetteville. Most of us that post here are members of hte M2C2 club! Membership is only $24 annually, so it's all good! We start paying our dues around October!

Again, welcome!

Welcome Kimmie! As Michelle pointed out I'm located in Fayetteville too. There's actually about 20 MINI's in town. There's no chapter here yet but I do the nomadic thing and travel to other places for meetings and runs.

The Raleigh chapter has dinner get togethers once a month. These are sometimes coupled with other activities like drives and such. There's supposed to be one such get together this Thursday up there.

Feel free to PM or email me about any questions you might have.

Also, I've just recently made some contacts with people up in the Virginia area and they are going to let me know about some events coming up there as well! I'm always up for driving to Virginia! New places and all that fun stuff!

Bob's a great guy as well as everyone else! You'll find that we are all a bunch of cool people! If you can hook up with Bob, you could make up for our dinner, providing we figure out where it is, and my move allows me to go!

So Welcoming

Thank you for making me feel so welcome! Sorry about the delayed response. I just had my mom and stepfather in town (drove up from tampa because of the pending hurricane) and my little brother is still here (not really little but he's a lot younger than me so I always call him that lol). Thing have been a little hectic. So I wont be able to consider the Thursday dinner. But definitly in the future that sounds like fun. I'm confused though, who is Bob?

And there are 20 mini's in fayetteville? So far I've seen two at an apartment complex nearby and met the driver and his wife (they have a silver S and ordered a convertable). I saw a black one at target the other day and because Wasabi is so dark and I'm so used to being the only mini in the lot I started walking towards the black one and realized it wasnt my car lol... it was in the same spot as mine only two rows over. heh heh.. hate when that happens. Gotta get my brit flag back on the roof so it stands out better because i'm so blind apparantly lol...

But yeah I'd definitly like to get more involved. And tell me about this club that everyone belongs to? Is there a website for it that has more information and all that good stuff? Thanks for being so helpful! I'm off to shower and drive the Wasabi in the rain. He doesn't like that much but, well you gotta do what you gotta do

xoxo Kimmie

Kimmie,

Bob works at the Musik Hut there in Fayetteville. I always order my CDs through him. He's got a black and white MCS with off center stripes. Very cool guy!

I'm planning on a drive October 30 for Halloween. I'm glad I didn't say October 31 since Skinny Puppy is playing that night! WOO HOO!!! Feel free and come on up for that one! I'm hoping to have time to plan it with me buying a house and all, my time has been consumed.

Most of us belong to the M2C2 Club or the MINI Motoring Club of the Carolinas. I believe the web site is www.m2c2.org. You get some great benefits with it. Just check out the site and you can join from there!!!

We are a varied bunch of people and all of us are great! Can't wait to meet you and all that fun stuff!!!! There is a drive in Asheville on October 23. You should try to go to that one. The lady is very hospitable (sp??) and letting people stay at her place for those that want to. Look for the link to the Mountain Valley Leaf Run or something to that effect. I won't be at that one, since I have a prior engagement, but I'm sure a ton of other people will be!

Anyway, that's it, and I'm now rambling! So take care and happy motoring!

Michelle

Michelle,

I live in Greensboro and have an '05 MCS on order, should take delivery in mid-November. You mentioned some "benefits" of being a member of MINI Motoring Club of the Carolinas. I went to their website, but it doesn't mention what the benefits are. Can you clue me in on some of the specific benefits.
Thanks,
Randy

Randy,

I'm assuming that you got your MCS from the same place I did, Flow. Unfortunately, Flow doesn't take part in the "benefits". I don't have my paper in front of me, so I'm hoping that I can get some help from the other guys. Century MINI offers discounts on certain things, some places offer discounts on window tinting and I think parts, and there are some other as well. I"ll have to do some checking on this and look for my sheet, but since I'm packing, I have not a clue what I did with it! ACK

Kimmie...."hi", I'm Bob. I've owned my S for about a year and a half now. The 20 figure is derived from personal contact with a few drivers here in town and information given to me about other MINI's they've seen in town. It's also assuming none of the Ft.Bragg contingent have left town in the past year. I see about one a week now as opposed to the one every other month I used to run into.

Randy.....the webpage just got a new webmaster to take it over this past month. A new updated version should be up soon listing everything. As it is, and strictly relying on memory , club members get parts discounts at Century and, I think, 2 other dealerships (though as Michelle said, not Flow). H-sport stuff can be bought through NOPI in Atlanta at reduced prices, and I believe there's a tint shop in Charlotte offering discounts also. Not only that, but at events requiring lodging, we usually swing a discounted rate at the hotel we stay at. There may be some things I missed but the memory isn't what it used to be.

NCDave,

If you are talking about the monthly dinner, it's going to be at Ruby Tuesday's in Crossroads. If you are meeting other people there, then why don't you all come on out to Crossroads! It'll be fun! So far our monthly dinners have changed locations every month. Maybe one of these days we'll get a set place!

I'm confused... Ruby Tuesday or Texas Steak House? I have to fly, but if I get back in time I'll try to make it. Welcome to NC Moorlockx.

Since I created the confusion, it's only fair that I fix it. Sounds like we're talking about Ruby Tuesday in Crossroads Plaza in Cary at 6:30 p.m.

Geez!.....you are confused! You're supposed to be welcoming Kimmie to our wonderful state and illustrious town. Don't you remember following me back from Apex last month? Hope you can make it tomorrow.

m2c2 discounts..

Welcome all you new owners..

The m2c2 website is very lacking at this time. However, changes for the better are on the way!
Currently, members get discounts on parts and accessories at Century MINI in Greenville, and MINI of Charleston.. You also get a discount at Automotive Accents in Greenville on window tinting, custom accessories, graphics, etc.
In the past, the club has had demonstrations of "ride tuning" accessories and discounts made avaliable by independant "small businesses", sponsered a driving school at Lowes motor speedway, and had a detailing clinic. And m2c2 has also been able to arrange discount rates at hotels near club activities for "out of towners", too.

Welcome, Kimmie!

For all you MINI/Mini owners interested in Mini Motoring Club of the Carolinas (m2c2), most of our events are open to all. Feel free to attend a monthly dinner or a drive that sounds interesting to you. You can meet other m2c2 members and get a feel of what the club is like before deciding whether to join.

I'm brain dead...

Because I'm totally scattered, and I believe that I have a slight case of ADD (hey my dad and brother both have it so it's possible some of it rubbed off on me! heh heh)... Does any one have a comprehensive list of what is going on when and where?

What we really need is some sort of calendar that has a list of everything happening for the next few months. That would be really cool. If I had the time I'd do it myself but I've got a bunch of other web projects I'm working on at the moment. What I was thinking of was like... a calendar that members could add events to. Or maybe even just certain administrators could add the events but everyone could look at. I know I could do this... maybe if I get a break I can work on something like this. Course if someone wanted to pay me I could make it a priority LOL Anyway I'm rambling... Anyone know of something like this for the carolina club already together? Or someone wanna shine the love on me and just give me a list of all the deets??? I wanna get involved but I'm just not doing a good job of keeping track of waht is going on when and where right now ... heh heh...

xoxo Kimmie

Why, yes; as a matter of fact there is a list of things going on in the Carolinas. It's a thread titled "Upcoming m2c2 events," ()and right now it's just above this thread. I do try to keep it updated with events that are of interest to m2c2 members, even when the events aren't club related or sponsored. And it's a sticky, so it's always at the top of the list of threads in this forum.

I'm a dork

Hey I told you I was scattered. And funny still is that there is another discussion going on about the m2c2 website and a calendar is one of the items everyone wanted anyway.. doh... I'm so out of it! I swear its just that there are so many discussions going on, I want to be in all of them, but I can't and I'm on information overload LOL... But yeah that list will help me Thanks lee!

And thanks for the welcome to fayetville Todd!
