F55/F56 Can pops and bangs be coded out in Sport Mode?
Can pops and bangs be coded out in Sport Mode?
I know I might get flamed for this but I'm not sure if I like the attention the pops and bangs gives me in sport mode...
I much prefer it in mid mode but you don't get the increased throttle response in mid mode..
I guess one option is perhaps to change Sport mode to chassis only (as I like the heavier steering feel) and get a third party product (e.g. Remus Responder) to give me the sharper throttle but wondered if it can be coded out?

Are you certain the sound is not coming from the radio? Really! Since the newer Ss and JCWs when in sport mode are programmed for sporty gurgling sound effects thru the radio speakers. Try SPORT with the radio off.
Pops and burbles DO NOT come through the radio. The Active Sound Generator enhances the engine rumble in the cabin, which gives it a somewhat boxer-like sound. These are direct injection engines and in Sport mode, they overfuel to cool the cylinders. The little extra bit of fuel ends up in the exhaust manifold, where the heat causes it to explode, making the pops and burbles we know and love. I haven't heard of anyone coding a car to remove it.
I'll be happy to take your JCW Tuning Kit from you in exchange for a NM Power Module.
No more pops that way, but still all the more HP and throttle response.
Honestly thought... the sound is the main perk of the tuning kit. Maybe should not have got it if you didn't desire that.

I do enjoy the sound of the exhaust with flap open but just find the pops and crackles a little artificial for my tastes

while i'm not sure we can code out the pops, i'm trying to figure out how to ADD the increased throttle response as well as tighter steering wheel to mid/normal mode. i can't say more cuz i really don't have more but have been studying the BDC section of the DME.
Technically you could code them out because it had to do with the increased fuel flow through the engine. This gives you more power more quickly and the pops come from I ignited fuel (vapor) going through the hot pipes of your exhaust and igniting. If you could control the fuel flow or change the timing you could technically prevent them at the cost of instant power and possibly risking starving your engine of fuel (if not done properly). IMHO it's more trouble than it's worth if you really dislike them that much.
Yea, it would, takes come remapping work on an aftermarket module. Dont know anyone who has done this as soo many people love the pop and bang , so much they had to bring it back on the 2011 up MINIs , they took most of it away on the 2007-2010 MINI Cooper S models.

Thanks all... I was hoping that maybe it could have been done using Esys but seems more complex than that...
I may try a throttle response module and use it in Mid mode setting to see if that works or set the Sport mode to be "chassis only" with the response module.

The OP here asks about Pops and Bangs. If the Bangs are the same as Burbles, then earlier posts have described pulling a fuse which powers the car's fake noise generator - thus no more burbles but no reduction of pops.
I own a 2015 MCS AT. I'm in love with the burbles and pops, but I only rarely hear them. Only when I'm driving hard in sport mode do I get an occasional pop. I currently have 8300k miles. Does the exhaust break in over time and sound better? Deeper? More pops and burbles? Maybe I don't get much of it because I have an auto 🙄 ?

On my JCW Pro exhaust, the pops and bangs louder than the std. Cooper S exhaust with the flap closed but it's very loud with flap open where it bypasses the silencer.
