Question on power window motor & engine noise

Hello All,

Just purchased my first MINI a couple weeks ago, and I've been loving every second of it! Recently my power windows have not been coming back up once they've been rolled all the way down. The auto feature does not work, and holding the button up the windows immediately perform an up/down operation. If I leave it be for a few minutes then one will roll up, and a few minutes later I can roll the other one up. Is the outside air temperature causing my power window motors to overheat, or the computer to think that the power windows have overheated? Also, is it normal to hear A buzzing/humming noise cruising at 2000 RPM? Thanks a lot in advance for all your help.

Try resetting the windows. Roll the window down, continue to hold the down button a few seconds, then roll the window up and continue holding the button up for a few seconds. I think the procedure is described in the manual..

Thanks AZ! I'll give that a try tomorrow and check in. It raining out here today. I tried messing with it this morning. I rolled the window down half way, and as soon as my finger touched the button it went up like the pitch protection kicked in and just sent it ALL the way back down...😢😢

So AZ that mission failed. Key on, door open, window all the way down, and held for 10 seconds, then pushed switch up, and immediate up/down. So I had to tap the switch, in a sense, to get the window high enough so I could then just hold the switch up to have it roll up the rest of the way. I believe this is an ECU issue, because with both windows up, and driving with the A/C on my Mission Control will chime in periodically to tell me I have to either have A/C off or windows rolled down. Guess I'll be heading in for a re-program. Maybe even 2 new window motors. Thanks again for all your help. Glad to be apart of this community.

So update, MINI has to reprogram my computer so my windows function properly, and so mission control stops telling me to roll my windows up all the time. Thanks a lot for the all the help and the quick feed back.
