If you want plug and play, factory lights should be available at the dealer, ECS, or Pelican. For OEM lights with a generic harness and switch, look for Wipac lights on eBay.

We are the go to on the OEM rally lights, we also have the most info on those:

Otherwise you could get the PIAA ones or the Alta light bar and Piaa.

What's the difference? Just looks? (2 more in the 4 bar would probably make it a little brighter)

Which is the most popular? Factory, PIAA or 4 bulbs?

The most Popular would be the OEM rally lights. Mostly because they were factory ( button and such ) and for resale.

I've installed several sets, some factory kits, and others 'generic'

comments:

the factory kit is overly complicated wrt the wiring. If you can live wit a simple generic on/off switch you can do all the wiring with about $25 from the electrical section of your local parts store

on the other hand the BRACKETS from the factory kit are a very clean mount and gives you the most OE look, no matter what particular light you choose. OUTMOTORING sells the brackets .... http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop..._brackets.html

if you have any questions feel free to PM me .... or if you live nearby I'll help you put 'em on (no charge)

**************
p.s. some of these I installed... the owner did not plan to ever use them! So I installed lights and brackets but no wires!

Yeah, when I had mine, I wired them to a normal on/off switch. I didn't bother with the factory instructions that makes them unusable unless you are on high beams.

does your state require safety inspections?

TECHNICALLY these are supposed to be wired so they only come on if brights are on .... folks here have said their state checked for this .... I believe Jersey was mentioned... not an issue in the places I've lived since the MINI came out.

[BTW, factory wiring goes beyond this ... ensuring the lights are reset to 'disarmed' whenever the ignition goes off; and has a lighted status indicator in the switch]

I bought factory lamp brackets, console switch and wiring harness extension from ECS Tuning. Then I bought a set of new Hella 500FFs from ebay. I think I'm at $125 for the entire project.

Is there a big difference between the halogen and LED rally lights? I'd love to add these in the near future, but am unsure which one to go with.

LED's would draw less power and be brighter.

Thanks! The output is pretty good, but not quite as good as the output from the PIAAs I had on my previous MCS.

I need to find a way to stabilize the lamps. I get a bit of shake from time to time that gets annoying.

Thanks! I bought it used here in the NAM classifieds, already painted the correct color. I had to repair a couple of cracks and paint the black parts.

I have Hella 500s as well. I ended up oval'ing out the holes in the factory brackets so I could slide them back to rest against the grill to stop them from vibrating. I put a couple pads on the back to protect them...wouldn't want to damage my precious grill!

I'm thinking lamp vibration is the least likely thing to damage your grill...

I've got those parts... I'm just not sure how to install them and the instructions I have did not cover that. Also, the 500s are significantly larger than the factory lamps, so I wonder if they will even work with my setup.
