Keyless Help - 2005 Cooper S

Hello! I recently bought a 2005 Cooper S and quickly realized the car's keyless did not work. I decided it could possibly be the key and bought a brand new key through the dealer, this did not fix the problem. Next I tried a new rear view mirror knowing that the transmitter was inside and thought it may have died, still did not fix the problem.

Nothing on the key responds with the car, no doors or trunk. Is there something I could be missing here? Right now the only idea I have is the used mirror I sourced from eBay could be defective. I've tried re-programming both remotes as well.

Thanks

did you try reprogramming the key?

if this doesn't work you will have to go to a BMW or mini dealer/specialist to have them coded to the ecu

Yes, I did try that as well.

Wouldn't they new key I bought from the dealer already be coded to the ecu?

It took a me a few tries to get the key working when I bought a replacement. Seeing this video would have made it easier.

ECU to start the car and to open the doors with keyless are SEPARATE.
You need to "pair" the key to the keyless system....
Many dealers do this as part of any "fee" for the new key.
