R60 18" Turbo Fan Wheels - Color in 2012
18" Turbo Fan Wheels - Color in 2012
My wife cracked a wheel on her 2012 Countryman S All4 a month ago. It has been repaired (TIG welded by an alloy wheel repair service), but she refuses to drive it until she has a new wheel. The wheel is an 18x7.5 turbo fan wheel. I have ordered two from BMW Parts Worldwide and cannot get a color match. The first was the "silver" wheel, but it was way to bright compared to the ones on her car which are more gray. I then ordered Anthracite and it is black compared to the ones on her car. This was a custom order vehicle and the order show Turbo Fan Wheels as part of the "Sport Package," but no color is listed. In checking the VIN it shows it to have silver wheels. Mini Customer Service could not tell me what color wheels came on the vehicle.
It was suggested that Mini (BMW) changed the color of the wheels (different paint company, shade) sometime in the last four years.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. my wife has a Mini, with brand new tires, that languishes in the garage for the last month.
TIA
Michael

Well I found a fourth color called Orbit Gray but is supposed to be dark gray. So, I am going to get a silver wheel, take the silver and original in to get the silver color matched to the original. still cheaper than four new wheels.

thete were 2 different anthracite turbofan wheels .... first up to july 2013 and second from july 2013
same with silver with same dates
only 1 orbit gray, 1 black and 1 white
so it seems there were possibly 7 different color turbofan wheels

That makes sense. The manufacture date on every wheel that I have purchased or looked at has been in the 2015 area. So the chance of the 2012 silver being more gray than the 2014 silver or mid model year 2013 is very likely. Now, how does one find a new silver wheel manufactured in 2012?
Thanks for the info
