Hi-Flow Induction Kit for Cooper S

Has any one tried some of the hi-flow induction kits for the 2012 countryman s? And looking into this one what are your thoughts?

Hey JORGE,

There are very mixed opinions on this forum about this topic. I would say that 50% of people are inclined to stay with the OEM system and just switch out the paper filter with a K&N style filter. The other 50% point towards the installation of an aftermarket system. I am part of the second group. I have the NM Carbon System on my CM. I did feel a bit if HP gains and I also love the sound it produces. People cannot argue against the fact that the system increases volumetric capacity due to the larger silicone inlet and intake tube, as well as the fact that these materials do not expand/contract under different heat & pressure conditions. I will agree with the nay-sayers in that these systems will not make "a world of a difference", because they do not; only tuning, fmic, and turbo upgrades will do that. However, if you have the dollars burning in your pocket, it is a beautifully manufactured piece of equipment, that will at least :

-Modestly improve performance
-Produce awesome sound
-Look beautiful in your engine bay

You can see some detailed photos of mine installed in my thread:

Has anyone done any before and after datalogging of these so-called Hi-Flow Induction kits to show the effects of fitting one?

If so, what is the effect on IATs (intake air temperatures) and Airflow through the MAF?

From datalogging my own unmodified Countryman Cooper S in the relatively short time I've owned it, the highest airflow through the MAF that I've seen is 169.16gms/sec (= 22.37lbs/min) with an IAT of 20degs C (= 68degs F) at ambient temperature 10.5degs C (= 50.9degs F) at around 100ft above sea-level in a 3rd gear acceleration. From the analysis of my datalogging it appears to me that the OEM intake system does a pretty good job of keeping the intake charge reasonably cold and that at speeds above 60mph it starts to benefit from some Ram Effect because the opening orifice is positioned in an area of of high pressure at the front of the car.
