How to check the timing

I have a 2008 MCS, N14. Does anyone know if there is a way to check the timing without removing the valve cover? It's running great and not throwing any codes. I would just like to know if there is an easy way to check the timing.

No you have to install the cam blocks and lock the crank to know.

You can check it manually with timing blocks, or if you have access to an expensive scan tool you can watch cam/crank correlation.

Easiest way is to check with the valve cover off though.
