Is anyone from the Bama group or area going to this on Sept. 25th or 26th? I plan to go but I'm going to only do the one day class which is $160. A discounted price for MINI club participants and from what I understand, MINI of Nashville may have something to do with it. I'll be requesting a date this week so I was wondering if anyone that is going may prefer saturday or sunday so we can ride up together. Either day is good for me.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about your MINI in a safe and controlled environment. You'll be amazed at what the MINI can do on a track. What you learn in this event will give you greater confidence and make you a 'safer' driver.
Above all, you WILL have a BLAST!!

I wish I could go but the timing is wrong.
I hate that you can't get anyone to go to this with you. The timing is wrong for me or I would go. Go and have a great time.
OK, I'm officially in for Sunday the 26th. To anyone still on the fence, I think the deadline is the 11th or 12th. Any BAMA folks gonna caravan? If you'll slow down just a tad, I'll try my darnedest to keep up..

I'll be heading out of the Huntsville area on the 26th. Since I live just off 231 and it also runs through Huntsville, I'll be going that route instead of I65. Sorry, Bodinski.
Unless you live close to it. It'll take me straight to Murfreesboro and a short trip to the track.
I should get my official form or something in the mail next week giving me the start time.

Well how did our Alabama representative do at Phil Wicks. I talked to John Monk in Nashville on Monday and he said it was riot. I waiting for the pics to be posted of him spinning out the "beast" into the grass. How was it. Details, I want details.
It was a blast. I'm ready to do it again.
I learned a lot about how to drive faster and safer. They mention about not exceeding 80% of your capability, well, my 80% is so much higher now. It was less classroom than I thought but I am so happy that we got so much track time. I made a video of it and it is like night and day between my first time out and my last few times.
Thanks to Sjolly for the use of his video setup so I could capture the event. I do believe I will be getting me a similiar setup soon. I'm addicted to it now.
Here is the video which is 6mb is size. It's just over one lap in lenght. Video

Yeah, bod, if I had known earlier that I was going to be there on Monday I would have had to drop by. I would not have been able to get on the track because of a power steering malfunction. You know there is nothing in your owners manual about power steering. I had to check the "under the bonnett" forum hear to understand the setup and what possibly was going on with the steering. It got very heavy to turn as if no assist at all. There was no fluid in the reservoir and as posted in the mentioned forum and Monday confirmed by SA, all the fluid was in the boots and would not recirculate. This could have caused a pump failure and further problems. You might want to read up on the power steering issue. I have been changing my oil, but never gave a thought to the PS fluid. Sorry I missed it, maybe next time.

The thread below will point you to the pictures, including John's spinout.
He was in the intermediate group. For what it's worth, I can be found in the day 2 novice section. While your at it, order some pictures. Scott's gotta eat, you know...

My brother made a joke about the class but the more I think about it the more it makes sense to me...
There's no better driving car in the world than a rented car.... and some of the rental companies offer interesting cars for decent prices, much less than a new set of tires after the class. Saabs, mustangs, etc....
I loved driving my own MINI but this might not be a bad idea either....
