Sounds like you're in Canada with those option packages.
Basically, if you can negotiate any sort of discount off MSRP, you're already doing well. If that car is already on the lot, then you should be able to negotiate more aggressively, since you're not ordering a bespoke combination like most of us did.
Whether you finance, lease, or pay cash is up to you, and with finance the terms will depend on your credit worthiness. No real flexibility here other than your term length and making sure the numbers are legit. If you're trading in a car, then the dealer is double-dipping on you by making a profit twice. As such, you can choose to haggle harder to have them earn your business.
If you agree to frivolous extras or add-ons then you got suckered, so just say "no".
I was able to get $1,500 off my custom ordered JCW.
Thank you. You got a better deal, custom ordered. I couldn't get any dealer west of Tucson, south of the Oregon border to get me an allocation. I would have paid MSRP for a custom order.
Yes I'm in Toronto - there is some good deals available I just want to ensure I'm not over paying is all , looking at the depreciation on JCW here, 100km/60000 miles prices at 6/7 years are 18-20 grand. Not to be bad loss ?
If you go with the manual transmssion that will save you $1,500 (US) immediately (that's what I did...but not for the cost savings!...my preference). With that list of options you might be able to stay under $40,000 but it'll be close. The stock JCW cloth seats are just fine (for $0)...I went for the Dinamica Leather style JCW sport seats ans that added around $1,950 right there.
The add-ons really add up. You can really save by just getting the radio with HK sound system ($750) and not jump into the pit with all the Visual Boost and XL Screen Nav stuff! Too many people are totally hung up on having the newest & greatest electronic gizmos (they'll be outdated within a year or so anyway)....use your iPhone for that! Put your money in worthwhile automotive options!
The 18" cup-spokes are the best available stock wheel hands down...they look better without question...unless you go all black the track spoke 17"s look nice. But the larger diameter wheels just look better on this car! That's another $750.
If you can stay away from the sunroof and some of the other packages (but you most likely want heated seats...it'll get you into more $ there as well).
I'd say you can stay under $40,000 but possibly not with that list plus some add-ons that you will definitely want to consider.
John is dead on. It is all about what you can live without. For me I wanted it all. Bells, whistles etc. when I specced a car to order I was right at $39k. This car had a few things I didn't want but since I couldn't order I went overkill rather than underkill and giving up things.
I know for a fact they have about $3,200 to $3,500 in the car with all the chargebacks and rebates. On a new car you will most likely not get more than $3k off on a new car. Maybe Canada is different.
Either way it is a couple bucks, don't cut things you may want because you will regret it. Good luck.
John, Goin2Drt, thank you for points made, going to pull the trigger this week, comparing to many who loaded up the car I am at 4k savings problem here Toronto, Canada is 13% tax. so at 40k + tax, its bit much.
John with deal I am getting kind of makes sense to take all packages. + getting all weather mats thrown in.
Only dilemma its such a small ride, with a 6 and 8 year old in tow lol

Sounds great! You'll do fine with the little ones in the rear seats...first class ride!
Here's a picture of my msrp sticker $38,150.00, I also had the dealership put on the JCW Pro Aero kit and carbon fiber exhaust tips which ended up pushing it between 40-41k with labor. I got a corporate discount of about $850 msrp, I had a tradein and cash down so payments aren't bad at all. Since then don't ask, probably spent like 4k in mods so far but I definitely love the car, it's really fun to drive and like others said it's all about what you can afford and what you reallywant.

Thanks for sharing your window sticker. I find it interesting that most (if not all) of the standard equipment JCW items are now listed individually on the 2016 sticker, whereas on my 2015 JCW that has many the same items has a window sticker with about 1/3 the number of items listed as yours...I guess MINI thought the longer list was more impressive.
I suppose it may have something to do with the "packages" ordered. When you order a certain package the items normally included without listing individually are listed for some reason. Case-in-point, runflat tires are not listed on my sticker but they are listed on yours....weird huh?

Nice list of options, you get bonus MINI points if you fill the window sticker and you make it to the separate MINI window sticker with add on options , welcome to the 50K+ sticker.

That is weird, I think there trying to pull a Jedi mind trick, list everything now so you don't feel bad for spending 40k plus on a car, so your like man I got allot of options on this vice going dam, all that for so few options.

I'm definitely good, no extra Mini points needed here hehe
I was able to get $1,500 off my custom ordered JCW.
Here's my sticker. One thing that kind of grinds my gears is the Blackjack Mirror Caps. For some reason I thought these were a dealer installed option.....they are not. Not only that, you DO NOT get the mirror caps that originally come with the car. On top of that, they list at $200 on MINI's configurator, yet charge you $270. Had I known all of this, I would have just picked them up at the dealer, for less, and also been able to retain the originals that came with the car.
Wow , you guys are right under the 40k mark on sticker, lots of options. I was over 6K+ on my JCW coupe 46K, but i did not buy it new. Someone else paid that huge bill. Bought my used.
The sticker on my 2014 JCW Coupe was about 41K which included some dealer installed options I didn't want (LoJack, stubby antenna, a goofy Mini window shade). I got the dealer stuff no charge, and another grand off which brought mine to $39k. They lowballed my 2007 MCS trade at about $9k which I agreed to (there were a couple of things that needed fixing). So 32k with trade. Not a great deal, but I REALLY wanted a JCW Coupe and I knew they were soon to become extinct.
