Used Blizzaks - Good idea?

Hey All -

Thanks for making these forums such a valuable asset as I work my way through life with my mini.

Found a set of used blizzaks on a set of 4s winders. After inquiring 2 are at 7/32 and 2 at 9/32. Current owner got rid of the mini. The difference in tread was chalked up to him having to get two new ones. I am planning to only use these for one season as I would like to grab a slightly newer mini later this year.

1. For $400 is this a good deal?

2. I have been reading what to look for when buying used tires and have come up with a decent list (cracks, check the thread, look for any plugs, etc..) but is the tread on the 7/32 too low to begin?

3. Any feedback on buying used winter tires in general?

Thanks!

I bought a set of alloy rims, TPMS, and four barely used studless winter snows for $500. These tires look almost new, so I'd say $400 is way off the mark.

I agree 400 for used tires is way high, I'd never pay more than 275 for used tires unless they are practically new. Buying used tires is a great investment though, way cheaper than new.

Blizzaks come new with 12/32". It's not recommended to run them below 5/32". I'd say you have a pair 1/2 way worn and 2 on their way out. What size are they?

I usually figure 1/2 of retail, so about $250 for the set. Being at 7/32" on 2 of them I'd try to get them as close to $200 as possible. JMO
