The Touring Edition Exhaust
A bespoke exhaust designed specifically for the F56 MINI Cooper S (F56), the Touring Edition Exhaust features AWE Tuning’s proprietary sound cancellation solution, 180 Technology®, enabling the perfect tone, minus drone, delivering the ultimate mix of performance and sophistication. A direct bolt-on, straight-through design, the Touring Edition Exhaust delivers a civil, smooth soundtrack throughout the range while providing an enhanced in-cabin driving experience no matter how hard you’re motoring.
Sound Perfection: AWE Tuning 180 Technology®
There are valved systems out there. There are other exhausts out there. But there is no other exhaust on the planet with 180 Technology®, AWE Tuning’s proprietary sound cancellation approach.
How it works:
As exhaust gases exit the F56’s 2.0T engine and flow into an AWE Tuning 180 Technology® equipped resonator, they pass through strategically located ports, and into reflection chambers. Sound waves, carried by these exhaust gasses, bounce off the walls of the reflection chambers. By controlling the size and location of the ports and the chambers, we also control when the sound waves exit the chambers. The specific timing of when the reflected sound waves rejoin the main exhaust flow creates a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree out-of-phase sound wave that cancels out problematic frequencies. More on AWE Tuning 180 Technology® in the tab above.
Why it matters:
Unlike a valved system that requires the driver to select volume, 180 Technology® is activated by your driving style. Highway cruising on a conference call? No worries, we’re quiet. Ready to motor? Wake the beast with throttle input. It’s sophisticated and disobedient, all in one clean package, thanks to 180 Technology®.
The Track Edition Exhaust
If you’re all about 100% agro 100% of the time, the Track Edition is for you. It’s known to get raucous in the mid-range and could be a little much for many: so be ready, my friends!
The F56 MINI Cooper S Track Edition Exhaust takes the engineered design of the Touring Edition Exhaust and replaces the AWE Tuning 180 Technology® resonator with a straight pipe section, delivering an even bigger dose of scream out of a small package (snaps, crackles, and pops included, and enhanced).
Tip Options:
Both systems are available with 102mm Diamond Black or Chrome Silver tips, including the AWE Tuning logo, and double walling to ensure a mirror finish even under hard usage. All tips are individually adjustable, allowing depth into the bumper to be set according to personal taste.
The Power:
The AWE Tuning F56 Exhaust Suite produces solid gains over the stock system to the tune of:
We haven't confirmed fitment with a JCW as of yet. It's coming, though, along with other models. Once that occurs, we're going to put the car on our dyno to compare the OE vs AWE system(s).
Once I have confirmation (because we prefer to 150% sure) and power figures, I will definitely spread the info across this platform!
Thanks, Bill. But that is the reason I created this thread -- to share content and information about our MINI performance sector. I hope your holiday was phenomenal!
I'm really struggling to make a decision in regards to Track or Tourning as well as chrome or black. I've got white silver and have the Black Jack mirror caps, and side scuttles (not installed yet). I'm also planning on adding black NM wheels so I'm thinking the black tips.
I have to put my vote in for the Touring edition. The sound is very smooth for a 4-banger. Don't worry, you won't wish you had more volume. It's just right.

Nope- respectfully disagree. any "motorhead/gearhead' who has heard both will always opt for Track edition. They are both similar except at WOT
The track edition is mean when you want it to be and docile when you want it. Has a nice rumble/burble at cruising speeds.

^Careful^. I can't tell if you have an automatic or manual, but that matters in the 'daily liveability' of an aftermarket exhaust for the F56.
Having installed exhaust in other people's cars for more than 20 years, I base my recommendation less on what the hardest-core enthusiast would want, and more on my customers' cumulative reactions to various volume/drone levels. In other words, I think that the average enthusiast will, over time, prefer the touring exhaust, particularly if they have an automatic transmission.

I'm always careful .
Its an automatic . Its mild sounding 90% of the time. No drone. No kid "fart can" sound etc. etc.
You can barely hear it at high way speeds.
I guess coming from 20 + yrs. of raucous Porsche 911 turbos-it's all relative.
