So lets go back to the beginning... I bought the 2007 Justa for a song with what was told to me as a broken motor (timing chain snapped) the car is in outstanding condition and I was ok with buying a new motor and just swapping it. After researching and reading everything I could find on the N12 motor I am ready to start tearing into it ...As soon as I got the valve cover off I realized that the timing chain was intact and here we are ... With the top of the motor exposed and I am able to roll the motor over by hand with the plugs out with out and contact (seemingly) . every once in a while it will "fetch up" but it seems like its the timing chain not fitting on a sprocket some where ... as soon as I back up a tiny bit the chain tension loosens and I can continue to roll the motor over with out issue hence no bent valves as the chain did not jump enough to make valve contact with a piston (preliminary view fingers crossed!). Here is where I need a bit of direction...
P.S. I have the Bently manual in transit and hope to have it in my hands later this week but I was hoping some one in the know could give me some direction in the mean time
Exhaust
Intake
Pistons in proper position
Intake id tag "leaning" toward the windshield
Proof the timing chain is/was loose!
And finally ... my issue.. the timing tools will not "lock" the cams due to the intake jumping teeth!!! ... can I start to remove parts to loosen up the timing chain to allow the intake cam enough movement to lock it down before I proceed with the timing gear swap??
