How to remove f56 handbrake grip?

Hi all, has anyone removed the handbrake grip on an f56? I'm having a play with a couple of ideas and want to remove it to try something.

I would guess that it's the same as an R56.

Has anyone tried to make their handbrake shorter? When you pull up the handbrake it interferes with the armrest, forcing it up, so every time I get in my car I have to readjust the armrest. It only takes a few seconds to reposition but it's a pain in the ***. I don't know how MINI engineers missed this flaw when designing the interior.

bump has anyone took off the ebrake grip as I need to remove the gaiter to get alcantara ones made?

Design is different to r56 so not sure if it comes off the same. Had a quick try and doesn't seem to work

There is excess plastic under the armrest I guess at least 1/2" to play with
Worth some dremmel time before messing with anything else
