Intermittent P115D with no cracks/loose tubes/and a new MAF

Hi,

CEL's. New plugs. No loose tubes. Alta metal inlet to turbo after last one cracked, NEW maf, new correct plugs.

Clearing the codes can last for 1 day or two weeks. Come and goes. Full acceleration - nothing.
Just a reasonable pull away from a stop light: CEL....

No noise. No loss in power.

Annoying as heck and worrisome. I need some ideas/help- anyone have thoughts on what could be doing this (mini crack somewhere?)?

Thanks in advance!

jeff

Touch on some points here:

Did you check the connection at the MAF where the plug plugs into the MAF, the clips can sometimes not snap in all the way and make contact with the pins on and off.

I'd get a smoke test done.

Smoke test is a good idea. Some have had success with cleaning the MAF and then the code disappearing. May not fix your problem though, but it's a place to start. I know you said this, but double, triple check there aren't any loose hoses anywhere.

Thanks everyone.

MAF is brand new. No loose hoses..double checked. No loose MAF connectors or wires. It will run find for 1-14 days and then CEL....I can clear it after probably 3-5 cycles of start, stop,, clear, read, start, cel, stop, read, clear.... (start/stop meaning turn the car on/off).

Did you have any CELs before replacing the MAF and spark plugs? What lead to you buying a new MAF sensor?

Yes- that is why I bought the MAF.

Found a cracked turbo inlet tube at that time and bought an Alta metal unit.

Air filer is new. Filter box is without a flaw. Am stumped.

Thanks everyone.

Fixed.

Loose harness wire to MAF was the culprit. Fixed via "cold setting the bugger a tiny bit".... I played with it as it was clicked and tight....

Cleaned every electrical connector in the engine bay I could see with MAF cleaner and there was a good bit of accumulated dust/grime in there - I wonder why people assume the connectors can take that much dust - years.... I wonder if better units exist (waterproof, etc.). Heat is a bit high in there too. 84k miles.

Awesome, knew it was something with the wire. Everything else sounds like it was going to the connection.

Glad you have it fixed.

Knew it had to be something that was overlooked, I have done it countless times myself when installing new parts. Glad you got it figured out.
