R56 Rear view mirror repair?
Rear view mirror repair?
Any suggestions on how/where to repair my rear view mirror? Original owner of a 2007 MCS hardtop with sunroof. Parked it outside for the past few weeks while I worked on another car in the garage and it has rained quite a bit. Went for a drive 2 days ago and water dripped from the rear view mirror. I discovered at the same time the remote stopped working. Found notes on the forum of similar occurrences. I took the mirror off, disassembled it, dried out the few drops of water in it and cleaned some visible corrosion off the circuit board on the bottom of the mirror that the antenna is attached to (apparently from water that had dripped over the years.) Put it back together but the remote is still not working. The mirror has the Homelink, the autodimmer, and Comfort Access and central locking all built-in.
1. Is there anyway I can get just a replacement for the antenna circuit board without buying a whole new mirror?
2. Where is the water coming from? Windshield has not been replaced, cracked or stressed, no accidents. Sunroof channels are clear, no debris, the drain hoses are both connected and water flows to the ground through them. Should I run some windshield sealant around under the black rubber strip around the windshield? Will that fix anything?

Here is a rear view mirror DIY thread on NAM. Sometimes you can remove and dry out any water and it'll work again. Others, you may need to replace the entire mirror, which sounds like you may need to do. The rear view mirror with homelink and autodim is 51169302886 here. Check over the seals again. If all of those check out, I'd maybe see if you can source the leak by making sure there is no water damage in the headliner.
