So I want to get a roof rack for my mini, but I do not want to drill holes in the roof. It says that anything before 2007 it won't fit. Gen 1 and Gen 2 roofs are different? I don't understand this since it is a clip on.

 

The kit being sold on eBay is for 2nd Gen models and uses pre-cut slots in the roof gutters.

If you don't want to cut holes in the roof of your 1st Gen MINI to mount the OEM roof rack, you'll have to go aftermarket with a Thule or Yakima system.

I've gone with the cheaper option, but I generally carry lighter stuff like skis and snowboards on top.





For bikes, I also went cheap, but effective.
