I recently saw a pic of the new Saturn Ion that shows how the front passenger seat folds down flat. I think that the PT Cruiser was supposed to do the same thing.

Not that I want to make the MINI anything like either of those cars, but... I, personally, think that this is something that would prove extremely handy in the MINI, especially given it's somewhat limited cargo space - particularly for long items.

The PT Cruiser has the same thing with the front passenger seat. If you fold the rear seats half way and set the trunk lid at mid level you get a continuous flat surface from the back hatch to the glove box, great for 8 foot ladders or a handful of 2X4's.

That's one reason why I like my PT Cruiser, but that not what I expect from our MINI, I don't plan on carrying an 8 foot ladder in it, so the passenger seat is fine.

I just hope there is enough support in the passenger seat to make the motoring comfortable for them too.
