2005 MCS R53 my unit has flickered a few times and I just hit it and it went back on but now it's not turning on at all and I was wondering if you guys have a suggestion on to replace the entire unit or try and replace the light bulb in it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

This panel is illuminated by just two bulbs. When one fails, half of the panel no longer illuminates. It's not too difficult to remove and replace yourself, just time consuming. Great DIY write up here for the replacement of the bulb that went out. Bulb type needed is 509T, suggestion is to replace both bulbs as you're in there and you might as well just in case the other one is on its way out.

Personally, I think I would live with it....lots if time and effort to change a bulb...
Not saying don't love and care for your car, but sometimes as it gets older, some things are not with the time to fix....I know that I can operate the climate stuff without looking....

You would have to take its apart and replace them bulb, takes some work. Or you could get a new panel or funk one at a junk yard.

Just replace the bulbs. The one in the junkard is just as old as yours - and furthermore you still have to take the panel out.

Mine are out on the driver side. I've been living with it, but now that I know it can be fixed, I'll get around to it sometime.
Thx for the posts everyone!
