Noise rattle at 2000rpm under load

Hi
wondering if anyone can offer any help on noise I'm trying to track down
occurs louder when car is warm in all gears under load between about 1700 and 2000rpm
sounds very like a heats hied rattling, but having checked them they seem pretty good and not touching anything they shouldn't
the noise sounds a bit like induction too so I have checked air box for cracks leaks and pipes including breathers from cam cover.
I did think it might be pinging and tried a higher octane fuel and don't know if it placebo but this did tend to quite nice it a bit.
Have only had the car about a month and I believe it was laid up for a while before I got but was serviced and runs fine.
other thing I had thought was it might be coming from gearbox it's the getrag five speed and apart from this noise behaves like most other getrag minis I have driven.
any idea would be appreciated, am going to change gearbox oil and run some cleaner through fuel to see if these help.
I have noticed though that with the temp going down over last few weeks that the gearbox is a bit quieter so would welcome a recommendation for slightly heavier oil to use when I change or would this be bad for the synchrs as I know the getrag 5 speed uses a very thin oil like redline d6 atf

Hard to say about the rattle. As far as the fluid, I'd recommend Genuine MINI fluid here or some people will also recommend Red Line as a good alternative to the factory fluid (at link as well). Lots of good information and a DIY on how to change it here.

You can change out to redline, that's what I used in my 05 getrag 5 speed. Great stuff.

I would check the trans mounts for cracked rubber and easy movement and the axle for cracked boots or leaking boot grease.

Good luck.
