When I bought my 2012 Mini Cooper S from the dealership, the sales man showed me most of the features of the car (most of which I already knew due to my long obsession with Mini's). One thing that struck me as odd was the fact you could roll the windows down and vent the sunroof with the keyfob, but could not close them the same way with the fob. With no comfort access on my Mini and it being ridiculously silly to bust out the physical key and stick it in the door to close up the windows, I settled into the habit of manually closing everything up before exiting the vehicle. The other day I came across the the Carista App (a god send) which allows customization of some basic hidden user preferences within the cars computer. I was surprised to see Mini on the list! I expected the BMW's, Audi's and others, but not Mini! After a little research on some some of the custom options, I found what I was looking for! Windows up!! I was sold, paid 40 bucks for the adapter and another 20 for the pro version of the app. Long story short, I'm super happy with the product! There are some other options the can't be found in the B/C computer that are pretty handy, but that windows up option had me busting out my wallet in a heartbeat! And with new updates to the app, there are sure to be some new option available!

 

Looked into it, but unfortunately, no R53 support...

 

Had it on my '12 Jetta. Sad when I noticed it didn't cover my '05

 

Sent them an email inquiring about possible support for the R53 in the future, and received a response citing hardware limitations, as the R53s do not support the ELM327 microcontroller which is needed for full function as pertains to setting custom options.

Oh well...

"Carly for BMW" has the R53 listed as a supported vehicle.

R53 support, as with the Carista app, is limited.

Just checked their website, and it's the same story -- the only function it will perform on the R53, is to show engine codes - just as with Carista. The ability to change options, reset service indicators, etc., is not available for the R53.

Full function does not come until 2007 (R55s)
