What are MINI dealer service rates now?

I'm still under the 50k warranty and so far have had all free work. For those out of warranty, what are MINI dealer's service department charging for hourly rates? I'll take your responses sitting down.

Most USA MINI Dealerships hourly labor rates are obscene! They charge the same for the MINI as they do for the BMW! Does General Motors charge the same for Cadillac labor as it does for Geo labor? I don't think so! Hello BMW, are you listening? Although there are exceptions, the average MINI owner cannot afford a BMW and cannot afford to pay BMW labor rates. If MINI dealerships don't soon figure this out, they will get little or no service business after our warranty's expire.

Damn. I thought that in the States the cost would be lower, 'cause up here in the great white north, it's like $96/hour....Canadian. So like $150-USD, would be like $194-CDN. That's almost $200/hour to work on a MINI???!! Whoa! If you happen to expect any problems with the car in the future, maybe it'll just be cheaper to take the MINI tech course, so you can work on your car yourself for free.

Cheerio

For everything other than warranty work I will be going to the independent shop that services all my other cars. The way most dealership mechanics are compensated incents them to work as quickly as possible and cut corners. I'm sure there are some good, honest mechanics working for dealerships, but I have no way of picking the good ones from the bad ones so I will stick with my independent shop.

Looks like there's quite a wide range in hourly rates: $78 to $155 (in San Francisco). The Bay Area is and always has been a very high cost labor market.

labor rates in san francisco

I guess it goes hand in hand with the high cost of housing and gasoline.
