R56 Turbo upgrade

I've worked my way up to stage 2+ and now the next step is to get a bigger turbo. Does anyone have suggestions for turbo sizes that work well with minis? The stage 3 tune is gonna run around 1.5 bar.

Running a larger turbo is not necessarily strap it on and run more boost. K04 out of a JCW seems to be pretty popular right now and there are people running hybrid turbos. Also there are a handful of people running gt28s with no issues but, it took a very long time to get that setup to run right.

I wanted to keep a smaller turbo for a quick spool but I already have a catless dp a 3" Alta catless exhaust, Alta intake and upgraded intercooler piping. The intercooler comes this week and I understand i have to get new heat shielding and oil line, stuff like that but not 100% on the turbo yet. What exactly is different about the jcw turbo?

I scored a second hand turbo and will be sending it out to G-Pop Shop for a hybrid rebuild. And a meth kit before too long.

You need to do a lot of research for a turbo then. Are you tuned? If not, do the intercooler and then get a tune. See if that is good enough. If not, then go for a turbo. The JCW is a KO4 where the MCS is just a KO3. It just a little bigger and can flow more air. More air means more pressure which means more power. Mo' powa m' problems.

I have the manic sps switch so have 3 different tunes i can use. Once i get the intercooler then i can run the stage 2 map, but I need a high flow K04 to use the stage 3 map.

Bad move, your gonna have issues with the way they re weld the arm into the shaft for the wate gate. It won't be clocked right.

OWENS !!! People this question has been asked a millions times. Nick has extensive time tuning these cars with this turbo. I'm STILL waiting for up dates before I put my car on the dyno. Which since its been so long it's prolly pointless at this point in time. But, my car is fast as hell with ZERO boost plausibility issues. Countless times I see people with JMTC, franks turbo, I had a GPOP, I'd like to throw in the trash. I can keep going. This owens tirbo is an awesome piece. Automatic Trans at 30-35 mph I can break the tires loose. It can hold and sustain 28 psi.
I really wish people would follow people who have these turbos other than owens so they can see the issues and motors being blown up. It's getting a point were if you have anything other than an owens, you might not get a manic tune. But what do I know, I'm just some guy that don't know anything.

I just picked up my 07 MCS.... I got the Alta billet and meth installed, unfortunately the AEM controller is defective so I will have to get them to send a new one. I am on stage 3 now, A is 1.3bar, B is 1.4bar with meth and C is 1.5bar with meth. I dont agree with GET THE OWENS 28PSI.... sorry but your internals cant handle 28PSI.... Pistons cant, ****, your stock head cant handle it...... it may handle it but not for long then what 3000$ OWENS on a blown *** mini.

It's getting a point were if you have anything other than an owens, you might not get a manic tune. Incorrect.....
Yes he will tune you......

Then have the MAF sensor max out at 20 lb/min on stock S an 25 lb/min on the JCW's. At 28 psi your gotta be running lean because your way past the MAF's ability to read more air to increase the AFR's.

You obviously aren't paying attention... The posters ? was about what turbo he can upgrade to and hes running the manic tune.... you decided to go off and talk **** about how people need to run an ownes cause nothing else is worth it and you can run 28psi you also said and I quote "It can hold and sustain 28 psi." uhhhh yeah okay.... so tell me this how many PSI is 1.8bar? and again to my previous ? show me the R56 with stock internals running manic tune at 1.8bar??
