K&N Typhoon vs Moss Mini Intake (non S)

I folks, I've got a 2003 Cooper (non S) and am looking to get an intake. I did a search and looked at some K&N typhoon setups and Moss Mini setups. I'm just wondering what the difference between the two is?

As far as I can tell:
Moss mini:
- ~$100
- comes in some diff color combos (ie red with polished)
- no bracket for wire loom

K&N
- ~$200
- comes with bracket for wire loom

What makes the K&N almost double the price of the moss intake?

I can't tell from your profile where you are located, but for California, only the K&N is CARB certified meaning, for the SMOG test, you won't need to remove the intake and replace the OEM unit.

I've got the MOSS MINI intake and love it. It's cheap and will make your MC sound like a V8.

Vert nice install! I saw that thread on my search. I'm in Canada so all that CARB certification doesnt apply to me. In fact, they're thinking of passing legislation that makes it so new cars of the year 2000 and up dont have to get emissions tested for 8 years

I've pretty much decided to go for the moss mini intake, i think the bracket for the wiring loom will be easily fabricated as well.

Thank you!!! OMG, 8 years??? Woohoo. Another reason I wished I lived in Canada. LOL.

I was reading how scientists have been tracking pollution levels, and finding that pollution from Asia has arrived on the east coast (USA) and will only get worse as the population increases. Seems we got bigger SMOG worries than testing our own cars every 2 years!

re: Wiring Loom
I guess you mean, the fact it used to be attached to the OEM intake box, but now it's just free floating cause the box is gone? I haven't paid much attention to that, but I'll take a look to see if it's anything I should be concerned about.

If you are in CA, you may want to think about the K&N. For CA residents the state requires certain smog requirements (CARB) and K&N is CARB approved...

Lol, you'd think the smog would hit the west coast first. And yes, that's the exactly the wire loom I'm thinking about. I'm sure its nothing, but watching all these fabrication shows like American Chopper and Overhauling have got me wanting to pound something out

Oh ok! Yeah I know what you mean. They are inspiring. Makes me want to have my own shop and bang out a MINI.
