Changing out seats / colors

Hello, I'm in the market for a used R52 and often I see a car I may or may not be willing to purchase but, i don't like the 2 tone black / silver seats.

How hard is it to switch seats from a donor car?
Does the donor have to also be a R52?
Does heated seats complicate the situation?

I like the beige of the 2 tone beige but would want to make the front seats solid beige, and get rid of the black. Anybody ever went to an upholstery shop and priced such a scenario?

Thanks.

The seats in the R50,52,53 should all be the same mounts and plugs as far as air bags and seat sensors go. If the car you buy has heated seats and you want that feature you have to look for a donor with the heated seats or wind up swapping more than just the seats. Good luck finding your dream car!

The front seats in the R52 have a different airbag set up and inflation bag then the R50 R53, as there is no overhead airbag. Fronts are the same mount and plugs , most wired for heated seats, the 1/2005+ have the OCC sensor in the passenger side. Rear are all the same on the R52 convertible.

Regarding air bags...how would this be impactful to me?
Does the different seats mean different air bag involved in a seat change?

thanks.

They plug the the harness the same and dont throw a code or anything, of course unplug the battery first. Its the deployment that different on the side airbag for the R50 / R53 vs R52.
