2013 Mini S R56 tires...

Have a 2013 used/ 1 owner (@ 15,000 miles) Mini 'S' hardtop with original run-flats...

Knew the car rode 'hard', but was worse than expected... Checked tire pressure 2 days ago/ were at 38-40 psi !!! Holy back-breaker, Batman!! I will reduce to @ 33 psi and rotate front to back.

This Winter or following Spring I am considering the Continental 'Extreme Contact DWS 06' tires with size at 205/45ZR/17. My buddy really likes them on his Audi TT. Is that the max width size I can get on same rims?

I currently have 195/55/16 Conti 'Pro Contact SSR'.

205/50/16 , a tad less diameter but there are many tires avail in that size, you won't find many if any 215/50/16

And if you plan to drive 100mph you are supposed to have like 40 psi , that's what my door sticker says.

But I run 35psi

I'm pretty happy with my Michelin Pilot Super Sports, but have read good things about the conti's.

Have fun,
Mike

I have those exact tires, love them. About 7k miles on this set, so far. *Much* smoother riding, and more than enough grip for the street driving I do.

Others have mounted 215/45s, sometimes they are cheaper and with more variety.

Got the run-flats psi to @ 33, rather than 40-45 !!! Much softer ride, though still of course firm...

I would not get Continental run flats, mine are pretty useless in the rain.

Anyone having wear issues with the pressure down to 33?
I'm running 38 now and it's improved the ride over 40+ when I bought it.

I run my R94 Dunlop SP01 runflat @33-34 psi (33 is factory recommendation) for 15k miles, no wear problem at all,but you need to rotate them regularly.

Pirelli tires

The OEM run-flats on my 2013 MCS had good dry surface traction, but were uncomfortable and noisy and were nearly worn out at 25000 miles. They were horrible in the snow. I replaced them with 205/50/16 Pirelli Cinturato P7s. Ride quality is noticeably better as is the ability to drive in snow. I don't think they have quite the dry traction as the original tires, but I'm OK with that for the type of driving I do.
