2009 JCW Clubman Windshield: Rain Sensors and Windshield Heat, or not?
2009 JCW Clubman Windshield: Rain Sensors and Windshield Heat, or not?
Hi All,
I love my 2009 JCW Clubman and am somewhat new to Minis in general. I bought the Millennium Falcon slightly used (31k miles) and I wish to replace the windshield not because it's cracked or broken, but rather it's pitted in all the right places to make it very annoying.
My auto does not have the obvious black box behind the rear view mirror so based on my research, i'm thinking it does not have the rain sensor, however, it does have some black film with black dots around the upper edge of the windshield. I see no obvious wires connections, so I'm hoping it does not have either option, and I suspect that during this year/model both options were sold as a package, though I have no proof of such.
Any hints, tips, or references are appreciated.
Also, my on-board computer regularly reports 32.4-33 MPG, which is pretty good for a "sporty" car. Can/should I believe it since I regularly drive it VERY hard. I guess what i'm asking if this is "normal"? My fuel costs are low, but I make a point of hitting 100mph at least once on my daily drive to/from work and probably drive a bit (OK, that's a lie...) faster than the rest of the public.
Kindest Regards,
-Steve

Couple of thoughts. You can verify what options you have on the car here -

We have a '12 MCS and get that kind of mileage even when I push it. We're also looking for a new windshield so be sure to post who you have the work done by. You might also try a search on NAM, lots of threads on replacing the windshield..
