Pilo CAI filter hits my bonnet liner

I just installed the Pilo CAI this weekend, and I have concerns with the base of the cone filter hitting the bonnet liner. It's starting to wear a groove in the liner, and the hood is a bit harder to shut. I have to make sure the driver side latches. The base of the filter sits up higher than the box, so it contacts the hood first. I just found some old posts that this happened a couple other times, and was wondering if this is a problem to worry about or is it common?

Nice looking unit, just wasn't aware that the filters sit higher than the rubbers seal on the boxes. In an old post Dan mentioned he uses larger filters and this may happen, so it may be a normal thing.

Here's what mine looks like. The filter sits lower than the weather strip around the divider.

The green portion of mine is fine for the most part, as it tapers down, but the black rubber base of the cone sits higher than the seal on the box. I put a thin piece of electrical tape on the base of the cone, and lowered hood down slowly until it bottomed out, not latching it, and the tape stuck to the bonnet liner. And that's before pushing it down further to latch the hood.

You can just slide the filter toward the drvers area a bit more, and that will fixe the rubbing issue. You just need to have approx 1/2 the rubber mount area just fit on to the Heat Shield Intake Tube.

You mean slide the filter closer to the cabin of the car?

Yes, you should see about 1/4" of metal piping on the filter side of the
divider...if i can remember correctly.
