Electrical problem
Electrical problem
I stopped my 2009 manual Cooper to back into my driveway. I was sloppy with the clutch and stalled the engine. The street and driveway are sloping, and as I rolled backward I pressed the start/stop button a couple of times to restart the engine, but with no effect. I shifted out of gear and released the clutch pedal and coasted backward into the driveway, stopped, put the transmission into 1st, and pulled up the parking brake. At that point, all electrical functions are disabled, and there is a fast (5 or 6 per second) clicking noise from the vicinity of the battery. I disconnected the battery ground cable -first for a few minutes, then for several hours- in hopes of resetting the system, but to no avail. When battery is reconnected, dash lights, warning lights, and start/stop button flash repeatedly. There is still no other electrical function. Battery voltage measures 12.76 V. The nearest dealer is 60+ miles away (Pensacola). Any ideas/guesses? Thanks.
Is the car not starting when you reconnected the battery? Or is the issue just the lights flashing repeatedly?
