HK upgrade

I have HK system in my '03 Cooper S and want to upgrade to a system with Bluetooth and IPhone control. I am wondering if the new MINI HK head units will fit in my car.
I do not want to override or circumvent the HK system.

Your mini is not compatible with the latest head units. Your system was based on a technology first launched back in 1994. Check out some videos of Audiovox MediaBridge and Dension or look at sourcing an HK enabler and switch out the headunit for a modern Alpine.

+1 for the HK enabler. Plug and play and worked great for an aftermarket Alpine H/U.

I will be replacing the alpine with a pioneer 7500BT in a few weeks (one of the last in Canada). Looking forward to having Dash Command on my deck.

But be aware, when you loose the amp (just a matter of time) you will need to replace the amp or gut the whole system as it's 2 ohm based.

Thank you for the replies. Guess I will have to break the stock look if I want to upgrade. Will the aftermarket head units work with the steering wheel controls?

If you get the right HK enabler it will, mine does (but not the BT or voice buttons - I don't know of any system including OEM that uses them)

Volume up/down and track up down work great. No programming, just plug and play for me
