2011 JCW Needs New Battery
My 11 S did the same thing a couple months ago around 33k miles. Dealer replaced it for free because of faulty cells. No questions asked. I would try another dealer if they are close enough...not sure if your in Malibu CA, but SouthBay mini is the one who did it for me.
I can't upload the photo of the service paperwork right now. but it says:
"36774- Faulty battery checked and verified customer concern. connected battery charger, 12.0 volts. Performed vehicle test. Found fault code 5E30 and 5e31 DSC undervoltage. Performed energy diagnosis test- no fault determined. Performed midtronics batter testy and failed. removed and replaced battery"
and it was done on 3/11/15 at 36774 miles

We are slowly, but surely uploading new DIY content to our tech articles here for your Mini. We will add a battery to our list as we just got in an R56 JCW ourselves. If you have anything else you're wanting to know how to do, let us know.
Here are some replacement options.

Basically it's a YMMV situation. If you have IBS on your negative terminal you may want to have it registered.

If you do not have IBS just pick up a comparable battery and DIY (don't forget to put the vent tube & plug in the new battery). Napa sells a nice Group 48 AGS for $170.

I believe you can do it yourself with the AutoEnginuity Complete OBDII Diagnostic Tool, but as I said above it's typically cheaper to just have a specialist do it for you. I would suggest trying to find a Mini specialist shop rather than the dealer. I believe the free shipping is for items 15lbs and lighter, but we offer a good discounted shipping fee right now. $15 core charge and then you send us your battery.
